Sanandaj
pronunciation (help·info) (Persian: سنندج, Kurdish: Sine, also Romanized as Sinandij; also known as Senna (Persian: سِنَّ or سِنِّه), also Romanized as Senneh and Sinneh)[1] is a city in and the capital of Kurdistan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 311,446, in 81,380 families.[2]
The economy of Sanandaj is based upon the production of carpets, processed hides and skins, milled rice, refined sugar, woodworking, cotton weaving, metalware and cutlery. The main landmark of Sanandaj is a fortress dating back to the period of Abbasid rule.
The population of Sanandaj is mainly Kurdish, there is an Armenian minority.
